The generosity of area residents has helped a 17-year-old Dryden athlete realize her dream.
A group of individuals and organizations, including the Dryden Gun Club, handed over $1,800 Wednesday to Candace Glowa.
The money will help off-set the high cost of traveling to Halifax to compete in the Canada Winter Games.
An emotional Glowa wasn’t sure her family would be able to pay for the trip and she tearfully thanked donors at a special send-off at the Dryden Police Department.
Glowa leaves for Halifax today (Thursday) and is scheduled to compete in Biathlon next Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.
