A local call for new and homemade toques for arriving Syrian refugees has been answered.
Gerry Powell says the campaign has exceeded expectations, with 220-toques collected and at least another 30-coming in.
Powell says she’s amazed with the support of the Dryden-Ignace area.
Donations of toques will be accepted until Saturday, as Powell plans to send them to Valcartier, Quebec on Monday.
She adds the community has also come forward with cash donations.
Donations are being accepted at the Library and Sew Many Things.
Powell says she’s grateful for the help of both.
