Not much change in the positivity rate for COVID-19 in the region.
The Northwestern Health Unit says it now stands at 23.9%.
That’s down 0.4% from the Monday report.
However, there are 275 active high risk cases, an increase of 70 in the past couple of days.
Medical Officer of Health Dr. Kit Young Hoon stresses, “To be clear our overall rates are still very high compared to the rest of the province. However our peak may now be ending in some areas. In addition there are signs of decreasing hospitalization trends in the recent weeks. We will keep monitoring the data over the next few weeks to see whether these preliminary trends continue.”
She is thanking the public for their efforts to help curb the spread of the virus and encourages everyone to keep masks on, following physical distancing and getting your vaccine, including a booster shot.
Dr. Young Hoon adds, “If you test positive for COVID-19 or have symptoms and believe you may be eligible for treatment, call your health care provider, your local Assessment Centre or Tele-Health Ontario. It is important that this is done as soon as possible because treatments must be started within five to seven days of symptom on-sets.”
