Local MPP Says North Is Suffering From A Homeless Problem

Kenora-Rainy River MPP Sarah Campbell is taking the government to task on homelessness.

Campbell says the situation is now dire across northern Ontario.

She says poverty rates in this region are among the highest in Canada.

Campbell adds it’s especially alarming for the aboriginal population and those suffering from mental or physical health problems.

Deb Matthews, the Minister Responsible for the Poverty Reduction Strategy, says the province has a four pronged approach to help eliminate poverty in Ontario within ten years.
