The local president of the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario isn’t really surprised by the union’s decision to not resume extra-curricular activities.
Anne Saltel says while she was hoping for something positive to come out of discussions, nothing has changed regarding Bill 115.
Saltel says she’s actually pleased with the decision, because it’s the only card they have left.
She adds that parents who are upset should complain to the government who imposed the contracts, and demand that they let teachers get back to negotiations.
Saltel says if the government doesn’t open up negotiations, then their political action will most likley continue until the contracts are over in 2014.
