Provincial Police have charged seven inmates at the Kenora Jail in connection to a hostage taking earlier this month.
The individuals are from Dryden, Wabigoon, Wabigoon Lake First Nation, Sioux Lookout, North Caribou Lake and Peguis First Nation in Manitoba.
The 20 charges include taking a hostage, assaulting a peace officer, disarming a peace officer, unauthorized possession of a weapon, possession of a prohibited weapon, and uttering death threats.
A jail guard was taken hostage on Friday, September 14th, just after 1:00 in the afternoon and the incident wrapped up almost three hours later.
All of the accused are scheduled to attend Kenora Court at a later date on the charges.
Those identified in the event include:
35-year-old Waylon Morton of Dryden
31-year-old Ryan Nickel of Dryden
27-year-old Travis Polkinghorne of Wabigoon
27-year-old Joshua Pitchenese of Wabigoon Lake First Nation
19-year-old Drayson Waswa of Sioux Lookout
27-year-old Patrick Kanate of North Caribou Lake First Nation
30-year-old Garnet Sumner of Peguis First Nation
