Local School Boards Release Draft 2018-2019 School Year

For the first time in years, the new school year in northwestern Ontario could begin after Labour Day.

Local school boards have come out with their draft calendar for the 2018/2019 school year.

It shows the first day of school as starting on September 5th.

According to a survey conducted in the Fall, 59-percent of parents, staff and students voted in favour of the later starting date.

According the the draft calendar, the school year wouldn’t end until June 28th.

Local school boards are accepting feedback on the proposed calendar, with February 2nd the last day to submit comments.
