A handful of local students are in Toronto for the Skills Ontario Competition.
The skills trades and technology contest is aimed at encouraging young talent to take advantage of chronic labour shortages in our country.
Christopher Mills and Aidan Scott of Dryden High School are taking part.
Mills is in the photography competition, while Scott is involved in Coding.
Sioux Lookout’s Adam Coulombe is involved in Welding, while Dominic Roy and Caleb Wills are in the TV and Video Production competition.
Canada’s shortage of tradespeople is expected to hit at least one million by 2020, fueled in part by baby boomers retiring.
