Local Union Reacts to Work Stoppage in Winnipeg

An illegal work stoppage by letter carriers at a postal depot in south Winnipeg has ended.
Canada Post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers both said employees agreed to return to their jobs.
However, CUPW Winnipeg local president Bob Tyre said the issue of unsafe mail delivery had not been resolved.
The dispute revolves around the introduction of new sorting equipment at Canada Post depots on Wilkes Avenue and in Transcona.
In an e-mail to CKDR News, the Vice-President of Canadian Union of Postal workers in Dryden says the plant is impacting worker safety.
The Union stated there is no plan for a local Wild Cat strike or peaceful demonstration at this time.
