Logging Company Hit With Hefty Fine

Marcri Logging Incorporated has been fined 28-thousand dollars for violating the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
The company pled guilty to an incident involving a worker that dates back to October 2000 in Ignace.
Marcri was fined for failing to take every precaution reasonable in circumstances for the protection of a worker.
Ministry of Labour Lawyer Robert Sinding says the worker was hurt after being pinned in a wood chipper machine.
The man was seriously injured but was eventually able to return to work.
Marcri Logging was contracting on land licensed to Bowater.
