A softwood lumber agreement between Canada and the U.S. has come to an end.
The deal was first signed in 2006 and expired Monday.
The U.S. Lumber Coalition says a new agreement would provide stability and predictability to industries and consumers on both sides of the border, but blames the Canadian government for not wanting to enter into negotiations on a new deal.
Under the now-expired deal, the U.S. can’t bring trade action against Canadian lumber producers for one year.
