Kenora OPP have released more details on the
sudden death of a Kenora man last night.
Police say Raymond Meronyk killed himself, after
attacking his ex-wife.
The 49-year old woman was driving on Longbow Lake
Road, when her vehicle was intentionally hit from behind
by a truck.
While rolling her window down to speak to the
approaching driver, she saw it was her estranged husband.
Maronyk then came at her with a crossbow, hitting
her arm, and then an axe.
Two passerby’s witnessed the incident and went to
help the woman.
The man jumped into his truck and tried to run all
three people down, but got stuck in the snow.
They were able to escape to a nearby home and call
police.
Officers found Maronyk’s body a short distance
away at the landing on Longbow.
The Woman was taken to Lake of the Woods hospital
for treatment of non-life threatening injuries and later
released.
Police are continuing to investigate.
