Lakehead University political science professor Laure Paquette says it’s premature to talk about changes in the Canadian Senate.
The comments come after the auditor this week named an additional 30-senators who had problem claims.
Nine names have been forwarded to the RCMP.
Paquette says decisions on the future of the Upper Chamber likely won’t be made until the Mike Duffy trial wraps up.
She stresses the Senate should look at improvements to the rules and regulations and how they are applied as well as moving away from self-regulation.
Paquette says expect the NDP to turn the scandal into an election issue.
She adds it’ll be the NDP who’ll be able to make the most of the Senate woes because they have no members in the upper chamber.
