Lakehead University Political Science Professor Laure Paquette says Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has a lot of work to do to live up to his election promises.
Paquette believes Trudeau has failed in several areas including failing to follow through on electoral reform.
She adds the PM has been inconsistent on his stance on the environment, supporting both pipelines and a carbon tax.
Paquette also believes upcoming trade talks will be a tough and delicate situation.
Paquette is worried that the United States will impose even higher taxes on imports.
She says Canada will have to keep a close eye on U.S. trade with China.
NAFTA talks are expected to begin in August.
