A $2.5-million grant from a group of mining companies is helping a Lakehead University researcher carry out his work.
Peter Hollings is hopeful his study will help reduce the amount of drilling as well as exploration costs for mineral companies.
Hollings will spend the next three years looking at new methods to ensure a worthwhile mineral discovery.
He notes the funding will allow the research to take place in several different countries.
