Lynx are not pets

A Thunder Bay man has been fined a thousand dollars for

keeping a lynx as a pet. The Ministry of Natural

Resources says 27 year old Justin Storm contacted their

Thunder Bay office and asked it it was legal to keep a

lynx in captivity.

Storm was told it was illegal under both the Fish and

Wildlife Consrevation Act and the City of Thunder Bay by-

laws.

Conservation officers seized, spayed and declawed the

female lynx. The animal cannot be returned to the wild,

she will now enjoy a home in a Wisconsin wildlife facility.
