Machin gets money for Arena

The Township of Machin has received a bit of a windfall.

The community will be getting 1.1 million dollars from the
provincial government to renovate the aging arena in Vermillion Bay.

Mayor Garry Parkes says they identified the arena project as one of their priorities in the capital budget this year and is pleased the provincial government has come through with the funding.

N006 Q: …very pleased. (22 secs,)

Parkes says they plan to replace the ice plant in the arena and remove the sand floor in the rink with a cement one.

He says those upgrades should increase the number of months the arena is in use.
