Stats Can- Visible Minorities

According to the latest census figures from Statistics Canada there are fewer visible minorities in the Kenora District than there used to be.

The report shows less than one percent of local residents consider themselves to a visible minority.

Jarod Dobson is an analyst with StatsCan and says that goes against the trend in the rest of the province.

N002 Q: …23 percent. (21 secs.)

Dobson adds that fewer local residents also consider their ethnic background to be “Canadian”.

He says over 50 percent says their ethnic roots are British, and 18 percent french.
