StatsCan Ethnicity report

About one quarter of the people in the Kenora District consider their ethnic background “Canadian” according to the latest information from the 2006 census.

In fact, more local residents describe their ancestral origins as british.

Jarod Dobson is an analyst with Statistics Canada and says that doesn’t mean there has been a big change in the ethnic make-up of the region.

Other popular responses to the ethnic origin question in the Kenora District, was 14.8 percent considered themselves German, 14.1 percent Ukranian and 10.7 percent aboriginal.
