Machin Mayor Calling for Change in Funding Formula

Local Municipal leaders want a new funding formula to help cover the costs of local infrastructure projects.
Currently, federal, provincial and municipal governments each share one-third of the total cost.
But Machin Mayor Garry Parkes says many small communities, like his, can’t afford the local share.
The Northern Development Ministry is looking at a plan to cover one-half of the Municipal share through the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund
