Before you ring in the new year tonight, you need to make sure you have a safe ride home.
If you’re heading out to a party tonight, MADD Canada wants you to remember to plan your way home before heading out.
A safe ride home for those who have a drink or two includes a designated driver, calling a cab or spending the night.
A spokesperson for the advocacy group says that hundreds of Canadians are killed and tens of thousands are injured in crashes involving alcohol, cannabis and/or other drugs each year, and that the tragedies are 100% preventable.
They also remind you that alcohol isn’t the only thing that causes impairments while behind the wheel this New Year’s Eve.
They say that if you’re planning on consuming cannabis tonight or any other night, you should plan for a sober ride home the same as if you were drinking.
Even if you’re the one hosting the party and aren’t consuming or drinking, you still have an important role to play in making sure everyone gets home safely.
