MADD Supporting Mandatory Alcohol Screening

MADD Canada is throwing its support behind mandatory alcohol screening in Canada.

The measure is contained in legislation now before the Senate.

Bill C-46 identifies driving limits for cannabis, new roadside testing devices for police and mandatory alcohol screening.

MADD Chief Executive Officer Andrew Murie predicts the proposed new rules would reduce impairment-related crash deaths and injuries by 20%.

Murie says the current method of selected screening doesn’t catch everyone.

He notes that mandatory screening is done for safety reasons, noting a form of it is already being accepted by the public at our airports.
