Major unions at Fort Abitibi secure contracts

All three major unions at Abitibi-Consolidated’s Fort Frances mill now have contracts in place.

Members of both the International Association of Machinists and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers have approved new five year deals.

The more than 300 employees had been without a contract since last May.

The Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union, the largest union at the mill, ratified a deal with Abitibi last summer.
