Major Vacancy For Health Unit

The Northwestern Health Unit is losing its Medical Officer of Health.
Dr. James Arthurs will be retiring next March.
Arthurs was appointed Medical Officer of Health back in 2009, after a lengthy search by the board of health.
He came to the area after working in the U.S. as a family and emergency room physician and Medical Director.
Arthurs says the outstanding staff of the health unit will allow for an easy transition and ensure that their programs continue to provide quality public health services.
Board Chair Julie Roy says Dr. Arthurs is leaving their programs strong and thriving.
CEO Mark Perrault says that recruitment for a replacement is underway and the focus remains on their 2013-2016 Strategic Plan.
