A Nakina man has been fined $1,000 for stealing and keeping a red fox he took from a trapline.
Ministry of Natural Resources Conservation Officers saw trail camera images of George McKay removing the dead fox from a snare and leaving with it. McKay was living in Ear Falls at the time.
Officials say McKay wasn’t licensed to trap on the trapline where he took the fox.
The MNR would like to remind the public that it’s illegal to interfere with lawful trapping practices, including taking harvested animals from traps.
