A Winnipeg man has netted a $950 fine for fishing violations on Shoal Lake, west of Kenora.
Ryan Jeron Smith was convicted for catching and retaining a walleye during a closed season, using live baitfish on a lake where it’s prohibited and fishing without a licence.
A Ministry of Natural Resources conservation officer caught Smith while on patrol on the lake.
Special regulations have been in place on Shoal Lake since 1983.
