Manitoba Man Fined for Illegal Smokes

A Canada-wide arrest warrant is out for a Winnipeg-area man who’s facing jail time and more than $400,000 in fines after being found with 900,000 illegal cigarettes in Northwestern Ontario.
Carl Fontaine was not in court in Marathon when he was found guilty, fined and sentenced to 6-months in jail.
Fontaine was caught with the contraband cigarettes in August, 2008 on Highway 17 near White Lake Provincial Park.
Police think he’s now somewhere in Saskatchewan.
