Ontario is holding off the seasonal flu vaccine program until
after pandemic vaccine to treat the H-1-N-1 virus has been
administered.
That’s because of unconfirmed evidence suggesting a seasonal flu shot may increase the risk of catching swine flu.
Dr. Arlene King, Ontario’s chief medical officer of health, says when the pandemic vaccine is available in November, everyone in Ontario will have access to those shots.
Once that effort is completed, the seasonal flu shot program will resume.
