March Break in Sioux Lookout – Hectic for Police

Sioux Lookout OPP have issued a press release details a rash of incidents over March Break

In the one week period between Monday, March 12 and Sunday March 18, Sioux Lookout OPP responded 228 calls for assistance, including 11 Domestic Disputes, 9 Assaults, 8 Bail Violations, 4 Impaired Driving Charges, 8 Missing Person Reports, 4 Thefts and 126 Liquore License Act incidents.

During the weekend of March 16 through 18, 130 people were locked up in Detachment Cells.

Sioux OPP have expressed their thanks for the CN Police, OPP Canine Unit, OPP Auxiliary Officers, Lac Seul Police, OPP Cadets and neighbouring detachments for their assistance.

In commenting on the heavy police presence during March Break, Detachment Commander Staff Sgt Davidson said “It is our goal to provide a service to ensure a safe and secure community.”
