Marguerite Agnew

Marguerite Agnew (nee Niccol) was born in Brandon, Manitoba on January 9th, 1917. She spent the majority of her early years in the Osaquan area just west of Ignace, a former trading post and sawmill community, where today grass covered foundations can still be found. In 1950 she left the area and moved to California. Shortly thereafter on September 6, 1952 she married the love of her life Oscar Agnew in Yuma Arizona; returning thereafter to San Diego, California. In 1954 Marg and Oscar left California and moved to the Dryden area settling in Wainwright township where they built their home. She was a homemaker, and took great pride in her home and it’s beautiful natural surroundings, which could be compared to a park – like setting. Marg enjoyed watching wildlife especially birds of all kinds, deer and other wildlife that visited their property. Although she had no hobbies as such, she considered Oscar to be her full-time hobby. That “Special Hobby” lasted for a span of over fifty years. She passed away on January 30, 2003 and will be sadly missed by all that knew and loved her. Marg leaves to mourn her husband Oscar, sister in law Nona Reid of California, special life long friend Sandi Pinter of California, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation for Marguerite Agnew was held on Tuesday February 4, 2003 from 11:00 a.m. till time of service at the Dryden Community Funeral Home. Funeral Services were held on Tuesday February 4, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at the Dryden Community Funeral Home with Mr. John Mulders officiating. Interment followed in the Dryden Cemetery. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Humane Society through the Dryden Community Funeral Home, 249 Grand Trunk Ave., Dryden, ON P8N 2X3.
