Marie Beggs

After a life well lived, Marie Beggs, cherished wife of Robert, beloved mother of Bruce and wife Louise; Cindy and husband Sean; doting grandmother of grandsons Paul, David, Benjamin and Sam, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 1, 2003, after a valiant five year fight with cancer. Born in 1929 in Dryden, Marie was the eldest and much-loved daughter of Alexander and Maria Woitowicz whose Polish and Ukrainian traditions she proudly carried into the lives of her own family and friends. She played a pivotal role in the lives of all she touched, especially those of her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, all of who will remember her fondly for her affection and generosity. Marie will also be sadly missed by her many friends and relatives, especially the families of her brothers and sisters; William (deceased), Michael, Joseph, John, Alexander (deceased), Nellie, Paul, Helen, Jessie, Jim and Pauline. Her life long love of children was reflected in her choice of career as an elementary school teacher and public library assistant. Funeral arrangements are in care of Morley Bedford Funeral Services, Toronto. A Memorial Service will be held in Dryden at a future date. Marie enjoyed the many flowers given to her during her illness, and made known her wish for memorial contributions to be made to The Children’s Wish Foundation 1730, McPherson court, Unit 30, Pickering, Ontario. L1W 3E6, or to a charity of choice.
