In loving memory of Mary Beyer, age 73, who passed away peacefully at the Dryden Regional Health Centre on Saturday, October 19, 2002 after a lengthy battle with numerous health problems. Mary was born in Wishart, Sask., on June 23, 1929. She had to take care of her younger sisters cooking, carrying water ½ mile and looking after household chores. The family moved to Savant Lake, ON in 1946. In 1947 Mary moved to Waldhof where she was employed at Eulers camp and became known for her famous pies. In Waldhof she met Leo Beyer and they were married Dec. 11, 1948.
Mary enjoyed cooking, canning, gardening and ice fishing in her earlier days. The canning added up to some 800 jars at one point. Anyone who visited in Vermilion Bay was always offered something to eat – you never went away hungry. Food was often shared with seniors and others – especially her potato pancakes. Mary is survived by her loving husband Leo, daughter Silvia & husband Glenn Scheibler of Dryden, Sisters Anne Cychmistruk of The Pas, Manitoba, Pauline Szmorong of Winnipeg, Manitoba and brother Ronald Jarrow of Medicine Hat, Alberta. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. She was predeceased by her parents, three sisters Minnie, Josephine , Frankie (Franja) and a brother John.
Visitation will be held Tuesday October 22nd from 2-5 p.m. at the Dryden Community Funeral Home and Wednesday October 23rd from 11-12 p.m. at the United Church in Vermilion Bay. Funeral Services for the late Mary Beyer will be held on Wednesday, October 23rd at 1:00 p.m. at the United Church in Vermilion Bay, with Mr. Harry Toews officiating. Interment to follow at the Waldhof Cemetery.
