Matawa First Nations is wrapping up initial work on an extensive broadband project.
Spokesperson Jason Rasevych says they want to install 500-kilometres of fibre optic cable between area aboriginal communities.
Rasevych says the network will improve access to education, tele-medicine as well as economic opportunities.
He notes the network will link 700-households and 100-facilities.
The main stumbling block right now is how to pay for the upgrades.
