Recovery efforts continue in Fort McMurray, Alberta as the one year anniversary of the massive wildfires approaches.
May 3rd marked a community-wide evacuation and Inspector Mark Hancock of the Wood Buffalo RCMP Detachment says they still have a long way to go.
Hancock says the City is doing a lot of rebuilding right now, noting they lost more than 2,400 structures in the fire.
Hancock notes the cost to recover is in excess of $9-billion and stresses it’s going to take a number of years.
However, he says people are working and the municipality is side-by-side with residents to rebuild a community that will be stronger than ever.
