Dryden Mayor Craig Nuttall says Council was premature to raise taxes.
Nuttall remains confident that the recent Domtar Mill assessment will get overturned and says the loss of $1,000,000 dollars in revenue is not entirely true.
However he adds that once taxes are increased it never goes away.
In addition, Nuttall believes that some City departments haven’t bothered to look at cuts and believes they are “overstaffed.”
Meanwhile, Nuttall says they continue to fight the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation, adding that it will be stayed because they have their legal opinion to do so.
Nuttall says he continues to meet with high level officials with the Ministry of Finance and Municipal Affairs and is confident that the assessment will get overturned.
