The Mayor of Atikokan is remaining hopeful the former Atikokan Forest Products Mill can soon be reopened.
Dennis Brown was in a Toronto courtroom Wednesday to lend support to Eacom Timber who’s prepared to purchase the idled Sapawe operations.
The purchase is conditional to the company securing a wood allocation.
Brown says reopening the mill would bring back lost jobs.
Brown says a decision on transferring a former timber license to the new owners could come at a hearing slated for next week.
He stresses it would be a crying shame if they don’t get the wood allocation.
The mill was placed into receivership late last year.
