Dryden Mayor Craig Nuttall is chiming in on Monday’s deal by Packaging Corporation of America to acquire Boise Inc for $2-billion.
Nuttall says it doesn’t make sense and notes it once again shows the ineffectiveness of the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation here at home.
Nuttall notes if five Boise mills are worth $2-billion, than the Dryden Domtar Mill has to be worth more than $14-million.
He says they are still working with the province and MPAC on the mill assessment, and expects they will have another meeting sometime next month.
Nuttall says he wants the system fixed now and notes he will go down to Toronto every year to lobby against the current system.
