Selected medical students are getting a taste of Northwestern Ontario.
The 64 students enrolled in the Northern Ontario School of Medicine this year were in Dryden on Wedsday.
Associate Dean Dr. David Marsh says it provides them with numerous opportunities before they go back to school next week.
“They’re getting to meet the local community and scope out the health problems that are in Northwestern Ontario”.
Alex Petiquan is one of three First Nations students accepted, and he looks forward to the entire experience.
“I’m so glad to represent my people and my territory as well such as Wabauskang, where I’m from. I hope to make everyone proud.”
NOSM received 2,000 applicants for their locations in Thunder Bay and Sudbury.
