An important step today towards the potential opening of a new Emergency Shelter in Red Lake.
A zoning change public meeting is being held at Municipal Hall at 5:15pm to discuss plans for an emergency shelter and apartment unit for transitional housing at 220 Howey Street.
Executive Director Janalee Jodouin says homelessness is an issue across the northwest and the new facility will go a long way to rectify the problem.
She notes support from the community has already been strong
