Cautiously optimistic.
Dennis Brown is feeling that way after a meeting last week with Provincial Energy Minister Dwight Duncan regarding the future of the Atikokan Coal-Fired Generating Plant.
Brown is confident the Liberals won’t make any moves that would hurt the local economy.
The facility accounts for about a third of Atikokan’s economy, hard hit by the recent closure of Proboard and the downturn in the forest products industry in general.
Duncan is planning a trip to Atikokan in the next couple of months to see for himself what the facility is like.
