It was one week ago that 20 children and six women were killed at a school in Newtown, Connecticut, and students, teachers, parents and school administration are still reeling in the aftermath.
Jack McMaster is the director of education with the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board and says improving school safety is definitely an issue.
But he suggests better mental health programs are also important, and that counseling can help a youth who needs help.
McMaster adds that some of their newer schools already have pretty good security features in place, including security cameras.
