It’s not uncommon to experience feelings of sadness and helplessness as we approach the New Year.
Clinical Psychologist Dr. Katy Kamkar says positive thoughts can help build self-esteem.
Dr. Kamkar says tips to stay mentally healthy include “appreciating ourselves, what are our strengths, what are our positives, appreciating our hard work, and really develop a healthy view of ourself.”
She also recommends exercise and keeping a healthy diet.
If you or someone you know are experiencing feelings of sadness and depression with symptoms including appetite or sleep changes, lack of energy or thoughts of suicide, it is important that you seek support and ask for help.
Dr. Kamkar notes financial stress is just one of many things people may be dealing with during the holiday season.
