This is Mental Health Week.
The slogan is to “Get Loud About Mental Health”.
Charlene Strain is with the Canadian Mental Health Association and she is encouraging the public to wear a green ribbon as a symbol to stand behind and support those with a mental illness.
Strain says in the 1800’s, green was actually the colour used to label people who were considered to be “insane”
Strain says training sessions are being held across the region to help people learn more about the subjective experience of hearing voices as well increase understanding of the day-to-day activities facing people with psychiatric disabilities.
