The company that flies between International Falls, MN and Minneapolis has declared bankruptcy.
Eagan, Minnesota based Mesaba Airlines has filed for protection under Chapter 11 of the bankruptcy code, and it’s effects on the Falls airport is not known.
Three other major airlines, including Delta, U.S. Airways and United have or are in the same situation, but still flying.
Mesaba president John Spanjers has said they need to restructure the company to match revenue and that would include layoffs.
Part of the problem has been accredited to Northwest’s holding back $30 million in payments owed to Mesaba for services.
