A retired Lakehead University Geology Professor says all of the evidence is there to confirm that a meteorite touched down in Thunder Bay.
Steven Kissen says the incident was reported Wednesday night.
Kissen calls it a “one time event” for northern Ontario, indicating there has never been an investigated meteorite fall in the north.
The only problem is the rock is missing and officials at the University are hoping anyone who has it brings it to them so it can be studied and authenticate it.
Linda Pohole lives in the area of Highway 61 and Mount Forest Blvd and says about 11:00pm, she heard a huge explosion.
Pohole says the incident shook the entire house and she immediately called 9-1-1.
