Metis Leaders say the Ontario Government has reneged on a deal over hunting and fishing rights, and they’re warning of possible violence.
Metis Nation of Ontario President Tony Belcourt accuses the Province of betraying a “historic” treaty allowing them to hunt and fish on traditional lands.
The Province Denies breaking an agreement, but says it will only recognize Metis Hunters north of Sudbury.
Natural Resources Minister David Ramsay says the Province is abiding by a Supreme Court decision on Metis rights handed down last year.
