Military Support Approved In The Fight Against ISIL-ISIS

Canada is contributing to the coalition air strikes in the Middle East designed to cripple the terror group ISIL.
Six CF-18 jet fighters will be sent along with two refuelling planes and 2 for air surveillance.
Defence Minister Rob Nicholson tells our newsroom the move is necessary to help rid the world of a dangerous and deadly menace.
Nicholson says there is widespread support to the air strikes from America and Britain along with a request from the Iraqi government.
He notes the government believes ISIL poses a major threat, not only to that region, but to Canada as well and can’t be allowed to fester.
Nicholson says they have made it clear that the military assistance will last 6-months.
