Miners Goalie Michael Lenko Commits To SFU

English River Miners goalie Michael Lenko has committed to Simon Fraser University.

Lenko will be returning to his home province after this season and play for the Clan’s hockey program in Burnaby, B.C.

Miners Coach Derek Sweet-Coulter says SFU fans should be excited about their new puck stopper, stressing he’s been outstanding for their program the past two years.

He adds Lenko understands the importance of being in the community.

SFU Coach Mark Coletta says they believe Lenko can come in and fight for the starting job.

Coletta adds the goalie has a lot of minutes at the Junior A level and he’s proven to be a number one guy.

Lenko plans to study Political Science.

He becomes the second Miners player to join SFU, as Ryker Moreau will be entering his third season.
