Miners Take Game One

The English River Miners broke open a 2-2 tie with four goals in the second period en route to a 6-2 win over the Dryden Ice Dogs Friday night in game 1 of the SIJHL Quarter-Final.
Paul Lamoureux led the way with a pair of goals, while Eric Masters, John Morales, Kellen McBlain and Devan Vander Wyk added singles.
Alex Hester scored his first SIJHL goal for Dryden, while Chris Belhumer also found the back of the net.
Dryden out shot English River 35-29, thanks to a 20-5 third period.
Greg Harney slammed the door shut for the Miners.
Game 2 of the Best of 7 playoff is Sunday afternoon at 3:00 in Ear Falls.
In the other SIJHL Quarter-Final, Minnesota cruised to a 5-2 win over Wisconsin.
