The minimum wage rate goes up to 8 dollars today, and
NDP leader Howard Hampton feels that’s not nearly enough.
The Kenora Rainy River MPP says if the rate was set at
10 dollars residents could actually make ends meet.
Over 200 thousand Ontario residents currently earn the
minimum wage & about 1.2 million earn less than 10 dollars
an hour.
Hampton adds a higher minimum wage would benefit area
businesses, since minimum wage workers usually spend their
money within the community.
